About This Event
Mid-September sees the launch of the Portimão World Beer Groove, a new festival making its debut at the spectacular Santa Catarina Fortress overlooking Praia da Rocha.
The fortress, perched on the clifftop at the eastern end of Praia da Rocha beach, offers one of the Algarve's most dramatic settings—17th-century military architecture with sweeping views across the golden sands and out to the Atlantic.
As an inaugural event, this promises to bring together craft beer culture with the fortress's historic atmosphere, creating something fresh on the Algarve's festival calendar. The September timing catches lovely late-summer weather without the intensity of high season.
Praia da Rocha is Portimão's main beach resort, a lively area with a long tradition of welcoming visitors. The fortress itself is a landmark you can't miss, visible from the beach and the town below.
This event will suit beer enthusiasts, foodies interested in the growing craft beverage scene, and anyone who enjoys festivals in atmospheric historic locations. The fortress setting adds cultural interest beyond the beer focus.
The site is accessible by car with parking nearby, or by a pleasant walk along the clifftop from Praia da Rocha's main strip. The fortress is well-signposted and familiar to locals if you need directions.
As this is the first edition, check locally for full programme details, opening times and whether tickets are required in advance.
