A partir de 21 de fevereiro, o espaço adjacente ao Polidesportivo da Figueira, recebe o novo Mercadinho da Figueira. A primeira edição é dedicada à laranja. Nas bancas dos produtores locais, poderá encontrar frutas, mel, licores tradicionais, doçaria típica, artesanato e muito mais, sempre acompanha

Portimão's Figueira neighbourhood launches a new monthly market celebrating local produce, crafts and regional flavours. The Mercadinho da Figueira sets up beside the Figueira sports complex, bringing together local producers and artisans in a friendly, community-focused atmosphere.

The inaugural edition pays special tribute to oranges, which thrive in the Algarve's sunny climate and feature prominently in regional cuisine. You'll find fresh citrus alongside other seasonal fruits, all grown by local producers who can share their knowledge and passion for the land.

Beyond fresh produce, the market stalls offer honey from Algarvian hives, traditional liqueurs made to time-honoured recipes, and typical Portuguese sweets that showcase the region's culinary heritage. Artisan crafts provide unique, locally-made souvenirs with genuine character.

The market creates a convivial atmosphere where locals and visitors mingle, shop and enjoy the social side of Portuguese market culture. It's more than just shopping—it's a chance to connect with the community and understand how people actually live in the Algarve.

This event suits food lovers interested in regional specialities, anyone seeking authentic local experiences away from tourist areas, and families wanting to introduce children to traditional Portuguese culture. The neighbourhood setting gives it a genuine, unpretentious character.

Figueira lies in Portimão's outskirts, easily reached by car with parking available near the sports complex. If you're staying in central Portimão, it's a short taxi ride or a pleasant walk if you enjoy exploring residential neighbourhoods.

Bring a shopping bag for your purchases and perhaps a cooler if you're buying fresh produce to take home. Arriving earlier in the day ensures the best selection, though the relaxed pace means there's no need to rush.

The monthly schedule makes it worth checking dates if you're planning a longer stay in the western Algarve, as each edition may focus on different seasonal themes and products.
