Lagoa is the stretch of coast where the Algarve's cliffs are at their most dramatic — golden sandstone carved into arches, caves and stacks, with pocket beaches tucked into the base. This private tour takes you to the highlights of the area over four hours, combining natural landmarks with a quieter cultural stop that most visitors miss.

You start at Praia da Marinha, one of the most photographed beaches in Portugal. The clifftop viewpoint is where most people take their pictures, but if you walk down the steps to the beach itself, you get a better sense of the scale. The rock formations are enormous, and the water is a startling shade of turquoise. It can be busy in high summer, but early or late in the day it is still worth the stop.

From there you move to Praia da Albandeira, a smaller, quieter cove with another natural arch and fewer coaches. The tour also includes a visit to the Capela de Nossa Senhora da Rocha, a tiny whitewashed chapel perched on a headland above the sea. The Benagil cave is the main draw. This is the famous sea cave with the collapsed roof that lets light pour in from above, creating a natural cathedral effect. You will see it from the clifftop viewpoint, which gives you the full perspective. The tour does not include a boat trip inside the cave, so if that is something you want to do, you will need to book a separate boat tour from Benagil village. But seeing it from above is still impressive, and you avoid the queues and the logistical complications of coordinating a boat departure.

The tour includes a stop at Porches Pottery, where you get a coffee and a traditional Portuguese sweet. This is not a hard-sell souvenir stop — the pottery is well-made and distinctive, with hand-painted tiles and ceramics that are genuinely local. If you are looking for a gift or a piece to take home, this is one of the better places to find it.
