Tavira's UNESCO-anchored celebration of the Mediterranean Diet — four days of food, wine, cookery demonstrations and traditional music across the city's riverfront and old town.
Tavira is one of seven UNESCO-recognised "emblematic communities" of the Mediterranean Diet, and the Feira da Dieta Mediterrânica is the city's annual celebration of that listing — four days of regional food, wine, cookery and culture across the riverfront and historic centre.
The programming runs deeper than a typical food fair: chef demonstrations, panels on agroecology and seed preservation, tasting sessions of regional honeys, salt and olive oils, and live traditional Algarvian music in the evenings.
Free entry, low ticket prices on the ticketed sessions. Combine with a beach morning on Ilha de Tavira — the ferry runs every 30 minutes in September.
