The Seven Hanging Valleys Trail is the Algarve's most famous coastal walk, and for good reason. It runs for just over six kilometres between Praia de Vale de Centeanes and Praia da Marinha, tracing the clifftops through a landscape of ochre rock, collapsed caves, natural sinkholes and beaches that are either unreachable or require a scramble. This is a guided version of that walk, led by a local who knows the route well and will point out the details you would otherwise miss.

The trail itself is well marked and can be walked independently without difficulty, so the value of a guide here is not navigation but context. You will learn about the geology — how the limestone cliffs were formed, why the sinkholes appear where they do, what causes the arches and tunnels that punctuate the coastline. You will hear about the history of the region, the fishing villages that once lined this coast, and the way tourism has reshaped the landscape over the past thirty years. The walk takes around three hours at a steady pace, including stops for photographs and explanation. It is not technically difficult — the path is mostly flat, with some gentle ups and downs — but it is exposed, and in summer the sun is relentless. Bring water, sun cream, a hat, and proper walking shoes or trainers. The path is uneven in places, and the edges are unfenced; it is not suitable for anyone uncomfortable with heights or unsteady on their feet.

At the end of the trail, at Praia da Marinha, the guide will arrange and cover a return taxi to Vale de Centeanes using Uber or Bolt. This is included in the price, which is a significant practical advantage; the alternative is either walking back the way you came, which few people want to do, or arranging your own transport, which is awkward if you do not have a car. The taxi takes about fifteen minutes and drops you back at the start point, where most people have parked.
