Three-day showcase of the Algarve serra (hill country) — cork crafts, medronho distillation, mountain cheeses and meats, traditional music and dance, in São Brás de Alportel's main park.
The Feira da Serra is the Algarve's annual celebration of the inland serra: cork harvesting, mountain agriculture, medronho (arbutus-berry spirit) distillation, traditional handicrafts, regional cheeses and dry-cured meats.
Held in Parque Roberto Nobre at the centre of São Brás de Alportel — a town that sits at the edge of the coastal Algarve and the start of the serra. Programme runs morning until late at night across the three days, with traditional music, folk dancing, demonstrations of cork-stripping and craft work, plus a substantial street-food and stallholder component.
A good cultural complement to a beach-focused trip. Cooler than the coast — bring a light layer in the evenings.
