Lagos celebrates its fishing heritage along the waterfront on 30 May 2026 with grilled fish stalls, traditional boats and live music.
Lagos still works as a fishing port, and Fisherman's Day is the town's annual nod to that — a one-day waterfront event along Avenida dos Descobrimentos with grilled sardines and mackerel from quayside stalls, traditional wooden boats on display, and a programme of folk music and community performances through the afternoon and evening.
It's a low-key, family-friendly affair compared with the bigger summer festivals; expect locals outnumbering tourists. Pair it with the Saturday municipal market in the morning for a full day in Lagos. Free to attend, food and drink paid per stall.
