Contemporary dance by Sofia Dias and Vítor Roriz with text by Tiago Rodrigues, at Faro's Teatro das Figuras.
Sofia Dias and Vítor Roriz are one of Portugal's most recognised contemporary dance duos, with a body of work that's toured Europe and well beyond Lisbon's usual circuits. O Que Se Abre em Nós pairs their movement vocabulary with text by Tiago Rodrigues — currently director of the Festival d'Avignon and one of the country's strongest playwrights working today.
This is the kind of programming Teatro das Figuras pulls in maybe twice a year, and it's the reason Faro's main theatre is worth keeping an eye on. The piece is text-led but largely accessible without fluent Portuguese — the language sits inside dance rather than being the whole point.
Best for people who already enjoy contemporary dance or theatre. Not the night for a passive evening out.
