Five-day international performing-arts festival in Loulé — contemporary theatre, dance, performance and outdoor street pieces from companies across Europe and the Lusophone world.
Tanto Mar is Loulé's annual deep-cut contemporary performing-arts festival. The programme runs heavy on dance and physical theatre, with companies invited from Portugal, Brazil, the broader Lusophone world and the wider European indie-theatre scene.
Performances split between the indoor Cineteatro Louletano and outdoor sites across the old town. The outdoor work is often the highlight — site-specific pieces that use the contours of the streets, courtyards, and squares.
English-language pieces are usually programmed each year; check the schedule before booking. Tickets are modest. Free street-performance programming generally runs each evening.
