The descent takes several minutes, and your instructor may hand over some control of the parachute if you are comfortable with it. It is not suitable for people with heart conditions, back problems, or certain other health issues, and there are weight restrictions that will be confirmed when you book. The minimum age is typically sixteen, with parental consent required for minors. If you are nervous, that is entirely normal, and the instructors are experienced in talking people through their fears.
The drop zone is located near Alvor, easily accessible by car from most Algarve towns. Parking is available on-site. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes; flip-flops are not permitted. You will be required to sign a waiver, and there may be a wait if weather conditions are not ideal, as safety is the priority. Free cancellation is offered, which is sensible given that wind and cloud can delay or cancel jumps.
