Armação de Pêra is a working fishing town on the central Algarve coast, less polished than Albufeira or Vilamoura but closer to the Benagil cave and the wild beaches that line this stretch of coastline. This boat tour departs from the town's beach and covers roughly an hour on the water, taking in the cave itself and a string of other formations accessible only by sea.

The highlight is the Benagil cave, a vast dome of limestone with a circular opening at the top that lets in a shaft of sunlight and frames a patch of sky. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult for safety reasons. The boat has no shade, so bring sun protection, and the sides are open, so expect to get wet if the sea is anything other than flat calm. A waterproof bag for valuables is a good idea, and a camera with a decent lens will serve you better than a basic phone, especially inside the darker caves.

The tour runs year-round, though the sea can be rough in winter and some departures are cancelled if conditions are unsafe. Mornings tend to be calmer and the light softer, which is better for photography, though afternoon slots are available if that suits your plans. This is a no-frills, efficient way to see the Benagil cave and the surrounding coast without committing to a longer or more expensive excursion.
