The paddling itself is not strenuous—most of the route is sheltered and the distance is manageable for anyone with basic fitness—but you will get wet, either from spray or from swimming, so dress accordingly. The tour runs in small groups, which keeps the experience more personal and makes it easier to navigate the caves without crowding.

Benagil Beach is a small cove reached by a steep road from the village of Benagil, which sits just off the N125 between Lagoa and Armação de Pêra. Parking is limited and fills quickly in summer, so arrive early or be prepared to park further up and walk down. The beach itself is popular, which means the water can be busy with kayaks, paddleboards, and boat tours, especially in the middle of the day. Early morning or late afternoon tours tend to be quieter.
