Benagil Kayak Tour On Board a Fantastic Catamaran

About This Experience
Discover the Algarve coast with Seasiren Tours on a catamaran and kayak adventure to the stunning Benagil caves.
This outing splits the difference between a boat cruise and a proper kayak expedition, and it does both rather well. You sail from Portimão Marina aboard a spacious catamaran, spending half an hour gliding past the golden cliffs and pocket beaches that line the central Algarve coast. The boat is stable, shaded, and large enough that you never feel crowded, even when every seat is taken.
Once you reach Benagil, the crew moors offshore and offers you a choice: paddle a kayak into the caves yourself, or stay aboard and watch from the deck. If you opt to kayak, guides hand out life jackets and two-person boats, run through the basics, and lead you along the shoreline. The water here is usually calm, protected by the curve of the cliffs, and the paddle into Benagil's famous domed cave — the one with the circular skylight and a sweep of sand inside — takes only a few minutes. You will also nose into smaller grottoes and arches that larger boats cannot reach.
The kayaking portion lasts around forty minutes, and you are never far from the catamaran. If you prefer not to paddle, there is no pressure; plenty of people stay on deck with a drink and still get excellent views of the cave mouth and the coastline. After everyone is back aboard, there is time for a swim off the stern before the return journey to Portimão, which is accompanied by music and a gentle breeze.
This suits first-time kayakers and families with older children who want a taste of the caves without committing to a full paddling tour. The catamaran provides a safety net and a comfortable base, and the guides are patient with beginners. It is less intimate than a pure kayak trip and less comprehensive than a dedicated boat tour, but that hybrid format is exactly why it works for such a wide range of visitors. The trip lasts two and a half hours, and free cancellation is available if the weather turns.
Portimão Marina is easy to reach by car and has ample parking nearby. Bring sun protection, swimwear, and a towel. The crew provides all kayaking equipment and a briefing before you set off. If you are traveling in high summer, morning departures tend to be cooler and less crowded on the water.
