Departing from Benagil Beach, the route takes in between six and eight caves and beaches, including the Benagil Cave itself and a view of Praia da Marinha from the water. The Benagil Cave is the centrepiece—that vast sea grotto with the circular skylight that opens to the sky above. The boat glides in beneath the entrance, and for a moment you are inside a space that feels both ancient and otherworldly. The light filtering through the oculus turns the interior golden, and the acoustics are cathedral-like. Depending on the tide and the swell, the boat may pause briefly inside, though you will not disembark. The cave is spectacular, and even on a quick tour, it delivers.

Beyond Benagil, the route continues along the coast, visiting a selection of smaller caves and hidden beaches. Praia da Marinha, with its famous limestone stacks and arches, is seen from the sea rather than from the clifftop viewpoint. The geology here is striking—honeycombed rock, wave-cut platforms, strata that look like they have been folded and twisted by some immense force. The beach itself is small and gets crowded, so arrive with time to spare if you want to avoid a last-minute scramble.
