Paddleboarding into the Benagil Cave offers a perspective that larger boats cannot match: you move at your own pace, enter spaces too shallow for motors, and feel the texture of the coastline rather than simply observing it. This two-hour experience begins at Praia do Carvalho, a small, cliff-enclosed beach reached via a tunnel cut through the rock. It is quieter than nearby Benagil Beach, which means fewer people and a more relaxed launch into the water.

After a safety briefing and a quick paddleboarding tutorial on the sand, you set off along the cliffs, heading towards the series of caves, arches and sinkholes that have made this area famous. The paddleboarding itself is not strenuous, but it does require a basic level of fitness and comfort in the water.
