Carvalho Beach is reached from the village of Benagil, just off the main road between Lagoa and Armação de Pêra. Parking is limited and the tunnel down to the beach is steep, so arrive early and bring a torch if you're not confident in low light. The beach itself is small and sheltered, which makes it a good launch point but also means it can feel tight when multiple groups are assembling.

This suits people who want to see the Benagil Cave in the best possible conditions and who are willing to set an alarm to make it happen. It's not suitable for young children or anyone who struggles with early starts, and the tour may be cancelled if the sea is too rough. The Algarve coast is generally calm in summer, but conditions can change, so check the weather before you book.
