Sunset Benagil Cave Tour - Boat trip from Armação de Pêra

About This Experience
Come and explore the Benagil caves and other wild beaches of the Algarve, only accessible by boat from Armação de Pêra.
Armação de Pêra sits roughly halfway along the Algarve's central coast, which makes it a natural starting point for trips to Benagil Cave and the stretch of cliffs and beaches that run west toward Carvoeiro. This one-hour sunset tour condenses the highlights into a shorter outing timed to catch the last light of the day, when the rock turns amber and the caves glow with reflected colour.
You'll visit around ten caves and pass fifteen or so beaches, including Praia da Marinha, Praia da Cova Redonda and the natural arch at Albandeira. Benagil itself is the centrepiece: a vast sea cave with a collapsed roof that lets in a shaft of evening sun, illuminating the sand below and the water pooling at the base. The light at this hour is softer and warmer than midday, and the shadows inside the caves are longer and more dramatic.
The boat doesn't land, so you're viewing everything from the water. The skipper will manoeuvre close enough for photos and point out features along the way, but this is a sightseeing trip rather than a swimming or exploration stop. The pace is steady, and there's enough variety in the formations and beaches to keep the hour feeling full without being rushed.
Because the tour runs at sunset, it's a popular choice for couples and anyone looking for a more atmospheric version of the standard Benagil trip. It's also a good option if you're short on time or prefer a shorter boat ride. Families are welcome, though children must be accompanied by an adult for safety reasons, and very young ones may find the engine noise and movement tiring as the light fades.
Armação de Pêra is well connected by road and has plenty of parking near the beach and marina. The town also has regular bus links to Albufeira, Portimão and other coastal resorts. Sunset times vary by season, so check departure schedules in advance. Bring a camera, a light jacket for the breeze and something to keep spray off your phone if you're planning to shoot video.
