The day begins with hotel pick-up and a drive to Ponta do Altar, a headland west of Lagos where the cliffs drop sharply to the Atlantic. The stop here is brief—a chance to take in the view and the scale of the coastline—before continuing to Ferragudo, a village on the east bank of the Arade estuary. Ferragudo has kept more of its fishing-village character than many Algarve towns; narrow lanes run down to a small harbour where boats still land their catch, and the waterfront has cafés and a few seafood restaurants. The next stop is the Portimão Museum, housed in a former fish-canning factory on the riverfront. The museum preserves much of the original machinery and layout, and the exhibits cover the history of the canning industry, which was once the economic backbone of the town. It is a short visit, but it adds context to the coast you have been driving along all morning.

The final leg takes you inland to the tasting room at Algarve Gourmet, a small winery with views over its vineyard. This is where the tour slows down. You are offered a choice of two menus: one based on regional tapas including seafood, cheese and local charcuterie, the other a traditional sit-down meal starting with Algarve salad and tiborna—a bread-based dish—followed by cataplana, a seafood stew cooked in a copper pan, and finishing with a house dessert. Both menus are paired with wines from the estate. The lunch is private, and the setting is quiet and rural, a deliberate contrast to the coast.
