About This Experience
Come and visit the world famous Benagil cave and 10 other wild caves and beaches, with your favorite people. We know you have a lot of love to give, but on this private tour we can take up to 10...
Chartering a private boat for an hour along the Algarve's central coast gives you access to a landscape that feels both intimate and grand. This is not a rushed trip with a boatload of strangers; it is a small-group experience—up to ten people—where the skipper adapts to your pace and interests. You get the caves, the beaches, and the commentary without the pressure of keeping up with a schedule designed for maximum throughput.
The route covers around ten caves and fifteen beaches, many of them tucked into cliffs and reachable only by sea. The rock formations here are the result of thousands of years of erosion, and each cave has its own character: some are narrow and shadowy, others open and airy, and a few are large enough to echo when you speak. The water is usually calm in summer and early autumn, though it can be choppy in winter, and the colour shifts from deep blue in the open sea to pale green in the shallows near the beaches.
Benagil Cave is the main draw. It is a vast, domed chamber with a circular skylight that lets in a shaft of sunlight, illuminating a small beach inside. The cave has become one of Portugal's most iconic images, and it is easy to see why: the scale, the light, and the sense of enclosure combine to create something genuinely striking. Your skipper will position the boat so you can photograph it from the water, and depending on conditions and timing, you may be able to step onto the sand for a closer look. Because this is a private charter, you are not jostling for space with other boats or watching the clock.
The tour also takes in Praia da Marinha, a beach framed by towering rock stacks, and the Arco da Albandeira, a natural arch that looks almost too perfect to be real. The Captains' Cave is another stop—a smaller, quieter spot that most group tours skip. Your skipper will explain the geology, point out features you might otherwise miss, and adjust the route slightly if the weather or your preferences suggest it. This flexibility is one of the main advantages of a private booking.
The boat is modern, comfortable, and designed for this kind of coastal cruising. There is space to sit, stand, or move around, and the engine is quiet enough that you can hear the waves and the commentary without straining. It is a relaxed outing, suitable for families, couples, or groups of friends who want to see the coastline without the crowds. There is no physical exertion required, so it works for all ages and fitness levels.
Pricing starts at €250 for the boat, not per person, which makes it a reasonable option if you can fill the spaces. The tour runs year-round, though summer and early autumn offer the calmest seas and the best light. Winter can be atmospheric, with fewer boats and dramatic skies, but conditions are less predictable and cancellations are more common. Free cancellation is available, which is useful given how much the experience depends on weather. Book ahead, especially in July and August, as private charters are popular and slots fill quickly. This is a straightforward, well-organised way to see the Algarve's most famous caves on your own terms.
What You'll See
Stop
Golden sand beach situated in the Alporchinhos area next to the luxury resort Vila Vita Parc.
Stop
The beach of the Tremoços occupies a small sheltered bay, in the nascent part of the Municipality of Lagoa. Because it is not easily accessible, this beach is practically wild.
Stop
The beach is one of the most rustic along the coast and was used as a refuge for small fishing boats of the region.
Stop
It is famous for its striking arch in the water. Compared to nearby beaches such as Praia da da Marinha, Benagil and Carvoeiro, the beach at Albandeira is relatively unknown. However, Praia da Albandeira is one of the best kept secrets the Algarve has to offer.
