The instructors divide their attention across the group but stay engaged throughout, offering corrections and encouragement as you paddle out, position yourself and attempt to stand. If you'd rather have one-on-one instruction, private lessons are available and give you more flexibility to focus on specific challenges, from timing your pop-up to reading the ocean and choosing the right wave.

Albufeira's beaches shift character depending on wind, tide and season, so the exact location of the lesson may vary.
