Via Algarviana Free Guided Walks

On 29 May 2026, free guided walks take place across the Algarve to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Via Algarviana — the iconic 300 km inland hiking trail.

About the Via Algarviana

The Via Algarviana is one of the Algarve's great long-distance trails, running 300 km from Alcoutim in the northeast to Cape St. Vincent (Cabo de São Vicente) at the southwestern tip. It passes through the Serra do Caldeirão, the Barrocal hills, and the Serra de Monchique — showcasing the Algarve's wild, mountainous interior that most visitors never see.

What to Expect

  • Free guided walks along sections of the trail
  • Multiple starting points across the region
  • Experienced local guides
  • A chance to discover the Algarve beyond the coast
