Free guided walks across the Algarve to celebrate 17 years of the Via Algarviana, a 300 km inland hiking route stretching from Alcoutim to Cape St. Vincent.
On 29 May 2026, free guided walks take place across the Algarve to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Via Algarviana — the iconic 300 km inland hiking trail.
The Via Algarviana is one of the Algarve's great long-distance trails, running 300 km from Alcoutim in the northeast to Cape St. Vincent (Cabo de São Vicente) at the southwestern tip. It passes through the Serra do Caldeirão, the Barrocal hills, and the Serra de Monchique — showcasing the Algarve's wild, mountainous interior that most visitors never see.
This is a perfect introduction to the Via Algarviana if you've never walked it — or a great excuse to revisit a favourite section. The guided format means you'll learn about local flora, fauna, and history along the way.
