The Festival do Marisco is the Algarve's biggest seafood festival, held on the waterfront in Olhão overlooking the Ria Formosa. Six nights of fresh seafood, live concerts, and waterfront atmosphere. The 2026 lineup includes Mariza, Calema, Daniela Mercury, and more.
The Festival do Marisco is one of the most iconic culinary events in the Algarve, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to Olhão every August. Held on the waterfront overlooking the Ria Formosa natural park, the festival celebrates the region's rich seafood heritage across six nights of food, music, and entertainment.
The festival grounds host dozens of stands serving fresh seafood caught in the Ria Formosa and along the Algarve coast. Local specialties include arroz de marisco (seafood rice), cataplana (a traditional copper-pot stew), grilled sardines, oysters, clams, shrimp, and octopus. Each evening features a headline concert on the main stage.
The festival is located in the heart of Olhão, near the municipal market. It typically opens in the late afternoon and runs until after midnight. Entry to the festival grounds is free — you pay for food and drink at the stands.
