About This Place
A rooftop restaurant in central Tavira with views over the historic centre, Roman bridge, and salt pans. Modern Portuguese cooking with a strong focus on local seafood and Algarve wines.
A Ver Tavira
Perched on a rooftop in Tavira's historic centre, A Ver Tavira is one of those restaurants where the view alone justifies a visit — but the food more than holds its own.
The Cooking
Modern Portuguese with strong Algarvian roots. Expect a daily-changing menu built around local seafood (look for the cataplana de peixe and grilled tuna loin), Algarvian salt-cured meats, and produce from the region's farms. The wine list leans heavily into Algarve and Alentejo whites and reds.
The View
From your table you can see Tavira's red rooftops, the seven-arched Roman bridge over the Gilão river, and the Ria Formosa salt pans stretching east toward Spain. At sunset, it's hard to beat.
